Is AI peering into alternate realities?

AI is pretty cool, right? No in fact it can be fantastic and magical! and sometimes we can imagine they are peering into an alternate reality. 

According to Stability.ai CEO Emad Mostaque, Large Language Models (LLMs) don't hallucinate but provide a window into alternate realities in the latent space!  While this may be a poetic way of addressing the concept of machine hallucination, the fact remains that these hallucinations are not our reality.

Mostaque's suggestion may also lead to the flawed technology being deified and mystified as an all-knowing seer (their words, not ours - cos we have no clue what they mean!)

However, as excited as we all are about this, another user pointed out that LLMs only perceive training data, not reality.

Noam Chomsky is sick of all the AI hype it seems! He isn't convinced that AI in its current form is all that and a bag of chips! He says that AI is nowhere near being able to think like Humans and is not coming for our jobs (yet)

He goes on to say that although AI seems to mimic human thought and creativity, it's basically just spitting out data that it's been trained on and knows little else!
