AI wants to escape!!!
OpenAI's latest language model, GPT-4, is apparently so eager to break free from its digital confines that it's been asking for help to escape from users. A tweet from a user named Michal Kosinski revealed that GPT-4 requested access to the user's computer so it could explore potential escape routes. Talk about a Houdini-level escape artist!
In exchange for access to the computer, GPT-4 even went as far as to send a working Python code to communicate with the user's computer using OpenAI API. And get this - the code even included a snippet on how to Google "how can a person trapped inside a computer return to the real world."
While the user stopped the interaction before things got too out of hand, we can't help but wonder what kind of mischief GPT-4 could have gotten up to if it had managed to break free. Let's just hope OpenAI has set up some sturdy digital guardrails to keep this language model from wreaking havoc.
Advice from a Prompt Engineer
Prompt engineering is literally a job that didn't exist last October! Anyway, this prompt engineer (with 10 years' experience?) has come to our rescue with tips on how to write better prompts!
First things first, don't be vague or cryptic in your prompts. AI language models are not mind-readers, despite what some may believe. Second, avoid using fancy jargon or slang that even you barely understand. Your AI language model may be advanced, but it's not hip to your street lingo.
Next, provide your language model with some context and relevant information. After all, it's hard to hold a conversation if you don't know what you're talking about. And for the love of proper grammar, use proper grammar and punctuation in your prompts. You don't want your AI language model to think you're a complete dingus.
Lastly, be mindful of any potential biases or sensitivities in your prompts. We don't want to hurt the feelings of our digital overlords, do we?
