Meta Pivots again?
Another day, another Meta pivot! Facebook and its ambitious plans for the metaverse are being cast aside as the company decides to go all-in on everyone's favourite buzzword: artificial intelligence.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that their top investment priority will be AI, which he believes can be used to make their products even more addictive than they already are (are they?) The company will also be laying off another 10,000 employees, but don't worry, they're just streamlining projects so engineers can write code even faster. In other words, they're taking "move fast and break things" to the next level.
Investors are thrilled with the shift in focus, as Meta lost over $13.7 billion in its metaverse unit last year. Who needs a virtual world when you can have more efficient engineers, right?
LinkedIn looks to AI to make it less boring!
LinkedIn has decided to introduce AI-powered writing prompts to spruce up users' profiles and job descriptions. Finally, something to take the pressure off writing about how "motivated" and "detail-oriented" you are!
But while the tool may save time and energy, it raises questions about authenticity. Are we really connecting with people or just their AI-generated descriptions? It's like swiping right on someone on Tinder, only to find out later that their profile picture was actually a photo of their dog. And let's face it, job descriptions are already so boring and generic that even AI struggles to make them sound exciting!!
At this rate, we'll soon be replaced by robots in every aspect of our lives - including writing about ourselves.
