Chinese apps are removing ChatGPT

China is showing signs of souring on ChatGPT!

Several popular Chinese apps have removed access to the chatbot, causing concern for Chinese tech companies racing to develop their own equivalent. State-run media has even claimed that ChatGPT could be used by US authorities to "spread disinformation and manipulate public opinion."

Meanwhile, Chinese tech companies are revving their gears with an eye toward AI, with Alibaba testing its own ChatGPT-style tool and Baidu announcing its AI chatbot ERNIE Bot.

As the AI race heats up, China may be ramping up restrictions on Western websites and apps, leading to accusations of digital protectionism.

More Big Tech using AI tools in products

Salesforce is launching Einstein GPT, a software that uses OpenAI's technology to incorporate artificial intelligence to help salespeople, customer service agents, and marketers in their jobs. The offering includes a chat box that can write an answer to a question based on information already stored in Salesforce, but the human agent can edit the response.

Microsoft is also introducing AI features to its Dynamics 365 software and has added OpenAI's chatbot to its Bing search engine.

LinkedIn has also launched a new feature called "collaborative articles" that uses AI-powered conversation starters to encourage discussion among experts on the platform. The feature matches articles with relevant members based on their skills graph and invites them to contribute additional context and advice to the articles. LinkedIn hopes that the new feature will make it easier for people to contribute to articles and spark more meaningful conversations on the platform.
